One of the best parts of designing and developing travel goods are the overseas trips when visiting our vendors. Just recently we were blessed to visit Tokyo and Saigon for a week long development trip to inspect our current production run. Our design director, @studioFAR, traveled for 7 days with only our Navy Pixel Camo Sneaker Daypack and Wheeled Case. He shares his story below and tips/benefits of traveling with our innovative bag designs.

Keep in mind, we were able to get away with using our Wheeled Luggage Design for this week long trip for two reasons. The first being it is almost summer in both Japan and Vietnam, so we mostly packed shirts and shorts. No heavy sweaters or jackets needed. However, we did fly with sweats and a hoodie, as it tends to get colder on an overnight flight. The second reason is that we only brought 3 pairs of low top sneakers. No high tops this trip, just comfortable walking shoes and a pair of running shoes for the hotel gym.

Our Sneaker Daypack and Wheeled Case are a perfect combination. Also, nothing makes you feel more stylish then when both your carry on bags match in pattern and color. The wheeled case is perfectly sized as a carry on and most importantly fits in the overhead bin (even on this international flight). The sneaker backpack serves as your personal item, so you should have no issues carrying on both bags. My daypack was filled to the max, so when my back got tired, I could rest it on top of the wheeled case (holding the carry handle of the backpack with the grip handle of the wheeled case) securing both bags together. This makes  moving through the airport a breeze.

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Saigon www.grandhotel.vn, which was like going back in time. For nearly $100 US, Ho Chi Minh City is booming but still affordable as a tourist destination. The beautiful French architecture, hustling population, and amazing food make it one my favorite destinations currently. Ask to stay on the older wing of the hotel, it has direct access to the amazing pool. Surrounded by wrought iron balconies and lush vegetation, it feels like a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. I kind of felt like I was in an Indian Jones movie. Haha.

Saigon probably has hundreds of great places to eat that are also extremely affordable. I'm certain this is a Foodie's haven with the right amount of time to seek out those establishments. Luckily our guides have excellent taste so we hit up various locations very close to the hotel. For some excellent Dim Sum seek out San Fu Lou Cantonese Kitchen http://sanfulou.com, focus on the dumplings, that is where it's at. One night we went for Korean BBQ and it was life changing. Be sure to check out BBQ - Plan K, a cab ride or Tuk Tuk from the hotel. I'm not a big meat eater, but I have never had more tender steak than this. We ordered the Australian steak, which was the softest meat I have ever eaten. Don't miss it!

For this trip we were only able to stay in Tokyo for 3 days, however we made the best of it. We enjoy trend shopping when visiting large Asian cities and if you love design/bags/fashion Tokyo is number one! We stayed in Shinjuku at a decent hotel and using the amazing subway system, we visited Harajuku and Shibuya to get our fix of food and style. Unfortunately, we weren't able to visit my favorite Nakameguro this trip or Ginza. But there is always next time.
